CAPLINQ Signs Definitive Agreement for Spectracarb™ GDL Products

Amsterdam, the Netherlands (WEBWIRE) – October 1st, 2013 – CAPLINQ Europe BV announced today that it will become Engineered Fibers Technology’s “European Market Partner” to further promote its Spectracarb™ GDL products to its customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Under the terms of the agreement, CAPLINQ will represent Engineered Fibers Technology’s full line of Spectracarb™ GDL papers and panels.

EFT Offers Widest Range of Porous PAPER Based GDL Products

Engineered Fibers Technology (EFT) manufactures the widest range of porous paper based GDL products available in the Industry. EFT’s Spectracarb production efforts have focused mainly on specialty processed thin papers and laminated multi-ply panels, with a wide range of densities and thicknesses ranging from 0.25 g/cc and one-tenth of a millimeter to 0.90 g/cc and four-millimeters, respectively. All Spectracarb GDL products are made in the USA.

In addition to EFT sponsored R&D, EFT maintains contract research/joint development programs related to customer specific GDL, and to the investigation of new materials, constructions and processing related to next generation GDL.

“We are truly excited about this joint business venture with Chris Perabo and the CAPLINQ Europe team,” remarked Robert Evans, Managing Director of Engineered Fibers Technology. “We believe that with the reputation and expertise of CAPLINQ Europe’s technical team, as well as their geographical proximity to our best potential Spectracarb GDL customers, provides a combination for a great market partner.”

Spectracarb GDL Papers and Panels

Spectracarb™ Gas Diffusion Layers (GDL) have been in production for over twenty years and are widely used in government, academic and industry PEM and PAFC fuel cells, electrolyzers and other electrochemical devices, from developmental to full commercial scale.

Spectracarb™ GDL papers and panels consist of graphitized resin bonded carbon fibers that form porous sheets, with high electrical / thermal conductivity and chemical / corrosion resistance that control the proper flow of reactant gases (hydrogen and air) and the water transport in the membrane electrode assembly (MEA).

A Perfect Fit

The range of GDL papers and panels offered by EFT complements the current product offerings as well as the strategic direction of CAPLINQ Europe BV, whose skills lie in developing pioneering technologies for leading-edge applications.

“After meeting and discussing with the EFT team, we are convinced that the European market is ready for this technology,” stated Chris Perabo, Managing Director of CAPLINQ. “Energy-focused applications such as fuel cells, electrolyzers and redox flow batteries will all benefit from using Spectracarb GDL papers and panels from Engineered Fibers Technology.”
