Polyester Tapes
Polyester Films, Polyester Tapes and other PET Products
CAPLINQ is proud to offer its own LINQTAPE™ PET-Series brand of high-performance, flexible, polyester film with Silicone and Acrylic adhesives for a range of applications.
High Performance Polyester Tape and Film
Polyester is a less-expensive material, but is limited to applications that have a maximum of 200°C. Therefore, it is preferred over Polyimide for applications up to 200°C. These applications include but are not limited to masking, temporary bonding, and splicing in industries that range from semiconductor, to automotive to general manufacturing. For applications that see temperatures up to 260°C, then you should use polyimide tapes and films.
LINQTAPE™ PET-Series films and tapes typically come in 33 meter (36 yard) length rolls of varying widths. and the base polyester film (backing) thickness range is between 1-mil (25µm) and 5-mil (125µm) thick. Other widths, lengths and thicknesses may be available upon request.

What is polyester and why is it a good choice for tapes?
Polyester is a polymer made from a chemical reaction involving petroleum, air, and water. The technical name for polyester is polytheylene terephthalate, which shortens to PET. Hence where the naming for our PET Series tapes comes in. There are many different uses and final products for polyesters, including textiles, coatings, adhesives, reinforcements for composites, and in this case, electrical insulation. Some qualities of polyester that come in handy when selecting PET tapes include:
- Durability
- Chemical & moisture resistance
- High-temperature resistance (200°C / 400 F)
- Electrical resistance
PET tapes are made up of two basic components. The first is the polyester film itself. This film can range in thickness and color. The second component of a PET tape is the adhesive. Depending on the requirements of the application, the adhesive can either be made of silicone or acrylic. A release liner is optional, again this depends on the application and application method.
What are PET tapes used for?
PET tapes offer unparalleled versatility across multiple industries, ranging from semiconductor to automotive, medical, and industrial sectors. One of the most popular uses for PET tapes is for electrical insulation. Due to their durability and electrical resistance, they are a great choice for providing insulation to electrical components like wires, capacitors, etc. Additionally, their high adhesion strength and temperature resistance allows PET tapes to be used for splicing and bonding materials. PET tapes can be bonded to multiple substrates, including glass, metal, or plastic.
